Travel to Ghana

The purpose of trips to Ghana are to share, learn, and explore.
Travel with us to Ghana Summer 2020!
Share your skills with the BaoBao Library Project.  There are many ways to participate and  contribute to the creation of the library, such as:
  • Help with the construction of the library
  • Working on the grounds of the library: landscaping, setting up community gardens, teaching permaculture
  • Setting up the computer lab
  • Teaching and sharing knowledge
    • basic language, reading and writing
    • Computers and technology
    • Academic subjects
    • Vocational Skills


Learn from local teachers who are masters of their craft:
  • Traditional Music and Instruments
    • Kpanlogo Drums
    • Talking drums
    • Gyil (xylophone)
    • Seprewa (harp-lute)
    • Atenteben (bamboo flute)
-African Highlife Music (popular music combining traditional rhythms and western instruments)

  • Traditional Craft:
    • Kente Weaving

    • Bead and Jewelry Making
  • Cooking

**Both in-home private lessons and lessons at the University of Ghana are available.
Explore the fascinating diversity of Ghana, both in its geography and culture.  We will take you on an adventure of a lifetime. You will explore historical sites, learn about Ghana’s rich culture, and visit small villages.
Following is some of the activities you can look forward to:
  • Step into the community of Santa Maria where the BaoBao Library is underway!
  • Attend guided tour through the halls of the Manhyia Palace Museum (the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom) in Kumasi.
  • Be led down into the slave dungeons in Cape Coast.
  • Walk across the Canopy Bridge suspended 100 feet above the forest floor of Kakum National Park.
  • Observe wildlife in the 4,840 km sq natural habitat of Mole National Game Reserve.
  • Experience the day-to-day life of a Ghanaian family and enjoy authentic foods.
  • Spend a day bargaining in the colourful and lively outdoor markets.
  • Spend a few days in Northern Ghana
